Elie Saab/Mila Kunis Oscar Dress

I was looking through some of the red carpet photos from the Oscars. I absolutely feel in love with Mila Kunis dress, and needed to know who the designer is, Elie Saab. I highly encourage everyone to look at his runway shots from the spring 2011 couture. The collection is breathtaking! Even the previous collections, they each get better and better. I'm surprised we didn't cover him in class, I think he shows in Paris. His gowns are super sexy and elegant! Check him out at www.eliesaab.com.

Lazy Designs

Going along with the things i happened to present about today in Belgian Furniture design, i stumbled across a great young designer's current projects that fit the deconstructed/multifunctional trend i featured. Her designs are the ultimate form of lazy comfort, and I would LOVE any of her pieces for my wreck-room!

Sole Trader - Wallpaper*

Alberto Guardiani
Hey, found this article in this month's issue of Wallpaper* magazine! Its pretty interesting - just discusses how Wallpaper* has found 3 different designers to collaborate on a bespoke production line of men's shoes, to celebrate 30 years of Alberto Guardiani. I attached the article and a video (on article page) also, so check it out! You'll see some of the latest trends we've been talking about in T&C class in the photo and video clips like gradation and perforations. The pictures are limited since the line is still in production; final pictures will be available in Wallpaper's July issue, so it is definitely something to keep an eye on!

Spring Trend

Check out these shoes from Office from the UK! They are a new trend for Spring 2011. The fringe, beads, and style of both shoes came from an Aztec inspiration! Both of these shoes price from about $135.00 to $150.00!

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2011 Couture

This Spring Jean Paul
Gaultier's Couture dresses
are gorgeous as always.

Nicole Kidman and Rihanna
wore Jean Paul Gaultier
Spring 2011 Couture dresses
on 53rd Grammy Awards.

Living legend French fashion
designer Jean Paul Gaultier is
still innovative.
His Couture dresses are extremely
expensive, but worth it.
Especially, I think, this white dress
is a new paradigm shift.

Interior Design Trends

I came across another wonderful photo blog of an amazing home this week. It showcases alot of the trends we have seen in class as far as interior and home furnishings go. Natural surfaces- wood walls brushed metal, stone, Retro and mod furnature- white pieces, sectionals, 50's inspired lounges, hammocks, chesterfield-esque pieces; even down to the vases and window treatments, everything is right on trend. Also, i have found that an Asian- inspired home is being seen more often. All in all this is an excellent home and example of how much trends really can shape the overall look of your private space.

Alexander McQueens Fall/Winter 2011

These shoes are part of Alexander McQueen's Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. They are so interesting but beautiful! Though, once again, the big trend in shoes right now is the platform with the stiletto heel. McQueen is right on trend of course! Also, the ankle accents are so awesome! Especially the top right photo, it looks almost like angels wings.

Take a look at Stephen Burrow's 2011 spring collection! He has a polished look and follows the longer hem that most seem to be doing, they also look at though they are inspired by kaleidoscopic colors

If your into bridal, dresses, or costuming, definitely take a look, but even if your not, its worth a glance simply for the outstanding photography, gorgeous models and overall pristine design.
You will not be disappointed.

Spring 2011 - We Wear Pants.

I was on style.com browsing at some of the new trends for this coming spring, when I came across this trend, We Wear Pants. The look is 70's inspired, very beautiful and feminine. The rise on the pants is getting higher than what we are used to right now. The relaxed pant seems to be very popular in the other trend for spring 2011. I love the color palette that the designers are using. I especially love the look that Derek Lam created (top picture, blue suit). It's so relaxed and the choice of fabric is perfect. I look forward to seeing more.

As I was walking down market street, I ran into a men's specialty store that sells ties, dress shirts, and suits, through the window there was a display of ties, and one thing that was similar between the ties was that all of them had paisley pattern. Paisley pattern are seen on high end designs on the run way, it was forecast to be a big trend. You see it all over shirts, dresses, and now even on ties.
