achromatics and white
i have been seeing a lot more white on runways and in stores, and while you always see more white for summer, i dont recall it being quite so widespread...

note especially the ruffle, high neckline and shoulder and leg emphasis on this dress...
and it is basically a muted achromatic plaid.. slightly oversized.

We learned about Japan today in class, and in one collection for women there was a few dark gothic like garments that had used sheer fabrics to cover up their women parts. Last night at the MTV Movie Awards actress Emma Stone was seen wearing an outfit very similar to what we have been seeing. Many other actress' were seen wearing deconstructed outfits, that were very interesting to look at! They can all be seen on people.com - Chelsea Parker
Along with mixing patterns, Japan also did a lot of color blocking in women's and men's high end.I was on the Internet and found a designer by the name of Prabal Gurung. He's originally from Nepal and studied at New Delhi's National Institute of Fashion Technology. He later went to Parson's and interned for Donna Karen, and also worked for Cynthia Rowley and Bill Bass.He just recently launched his own label a couple years ago, so he's new to the seen. Here's some of his Spring 2011collection displaying the color blocking trend. Whitney Cofer
Layering... Says by Alexander Wang
Have you ever noticed that fashion designer Alexander Wang does not use too much colors in his fashion line? Well that certainly is the case once again for the designer. In the images above, Alexander Wanf uses only soft colors such as ivory, white, grey, etc. He always uses the color black, which is also seen a lot in his line. Alexander Wang believe that the fashion trend for the season isnt really bright color like everyone has been using lately, but instead laying. He layers all of his garments and makes them oversized. He also pairs his looks with socks to give it that bohemian feel. Alexander Wang is a uniqe designer. When the fashion world is all going Left, Alexander finds a way to go right make it look GREAT!!

The Tribal Look
A look which started with Yves Saint Laurent's legendary safari jump suits has been re-interpreted this season, and designers from Christopher Kane to Paul Smith have looked to Africa and the Orient for their muse. Tribal themes can be seen with the strong use of animal prints at Christopher Kane, in cheetah and leopard print tops, combined with geometric shaped skirts in earthy hues such as grass green. Turbans also crop up again and again, another simple way to update your wardrobe for this season's fascination with global fashion.
