McQueen's Frontiersman

This is a design by Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2009 in Milan. All of the garments had that "New Frontiersman" feel to them with the three piece suits, pocket watch chains, flannel and tweed materials, and all around rustic vibe. This look in particular shows the pocket watch chain, hat, flannel vest, and also many layers under the vest which look like a scarf and maybe a few henely's.

Metal at the Grammy's

The Metal and Metallic trend is a favorite in every girl's closet.  This past Sunday at the Grammy's, the stars were flaunting their gorgeous metallic gowns on the red carpet.  Taylor Swift, Rita Ora and Ciara were names you will find on the best dressed list and they were all dressed in metallic colors and metal brocade.  Ciara looked flawless sporting her new baby bump in a bronze, plunging v-neck gown.  Taylor Swift looked stunning in a floor length gown in all silver chain mail.  Rita Ora wore a mint green tint metallic long sleeve knee length dress.  These three women were at the top of the best dressed list for fashionistas everywhere.

Menswear Oversized Trend

We saw this trend in Women's clothing, it has trickled it's way to the menswear industry. Will it stick? Will men react the same way to this trend and love it?

Wild Wild West Meets the Runway

Deadwood has truly inspired the runways with the "frontier" mans aesthetic. Especially with the use of neutrals as the color palette and certain fabrications. John Varvatos is one designer who I believe captures this look from head to toe. His use of black, navy, tan, and the occasional pop of color makes his collection a definite contender for achieving the look of the Wild Wild West. I'm absolutely obsessed with his use of tweeds, herringbone, wools, chunky knits, worn ombre' leather and layering each look perfectly. Two thumbs up from me!!!

To Tommy, From Zooey
Zooey Deschanel has teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger for a capsule collection of dresses to be sold at Macy's this Spring! The collection will consist of dresses inspired by the 60s because of Tommy and Zooey's shared love of bringing vintage moments back to life. These dresses will be available come April this year with a price tag between $98 and $199.

“They are Sixties-inspired short dresses,” Hilfiger noted. “There is a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics. They are very Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy — really from the Sixties in London. That’s not something we would normally put in our regular sportswear line — maybe we’d be inspired by the Sixties for the runway, but it’s a new way to look at fun, American classics.”

J.Crew Menswear Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Here is a little taste of J.Crew Menswear spring/summer collection and I really love these looks. On the left, I love the fact that you could dress his navy blue jacket up or dress it down with jeans like he's doing. The picture on the right, is my favorite look. I love this look because, I think that his suede premium bomber adds some edge to his preppy attire; which can be fun. Also if you look at the shoes that both models are wearing can be worn for any occasion. Asia Woods Trends&Concepts

Menswear by Kristina Vitelli

Marc Jacobs had awesome masculine trends on the runway.  This  piece in particular has the high waisted cuts we discussed as well as the pinstripes.  It also has the  over sized blazer element. Despite the masculine suit elements the outfit still reads very feminine. The way the skirt fits shows of the curves of the body in a great way balancing out the heavy blazer.  The site I found this image on showed many different stores where someone can buy pieces that heavily reflect the garments in this outfit.  An outstanding number of stores have very affordable pieces to help recreate this look.  I personally love the edge that the masculine look gives to the female wearer.

These are an awesome pair of pants that I bought from Urban Outfitters just a few weeks ago. When we were talking about masculine trends in women’s fashion in class I immediately thought of them. They are rolled at the bottom and are ankle length. They are also “boyfriend” jeans which mean that the fit is pretty loose much like men's jeans. The most masculine part about them, obviously, is that they have suspenders which are more of a dominant trend in men’s fashion than it is in women’s. I love these jeans because they have masculine qualities but you can match them up with a light pink blouse with some accessories and it becomes a good mix masculine and feminine.

Masucline ready to wear runway and street styles

street style in London (Koshka blogger)
This lovely lady is rocking a men's style vest and blazer, with a classic white button up and cuffed trouser pant. The vest and blazer are very masculine but paired with some square rimmed glasses, comfortable flats and a feminine clutch, she is very chic and preppy.
