New Labor Trend: Menswear
Week one for my Trends and Concepts class we talked a lot about menswear. The trend I was most interested in for menswear was the new labor trend. This trend features men wearing relaxed clothing that looks ready for any hands on job. These clothes may look ready for work but they are meant for everyday fashion. In Junya Watanabe Spring 2012 collection the new labor look is surely present. The overalls, plaid shirts, patches, and work boots give the models the perfect working farmers look. (Toya Moulden)

Preppy
Week 3 in Trends and Concepts we talked about the preppy look. Here, he has on a blue pastel short fitting jacket with a pink pocket square, green boat shoes and instead of a tie he has a long scarf on.
"A more modern version that attempts to inject pastels on jackets, shirts and accessories to break a little sobriety in the set" (http://www.mens-lifstyle.com/2012/03/hackett-london-lookbook-spring-summer.html). (Zuri Kinnard)

Oversized
Week 2 in Trends and Concepts we talked about the how Dior introduced the H and A-Line look in the late 1940's and we talked about the Over sized clothing. These dresses are done by Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga. The garment to the far right you can see the the A-Line and the top being very oversized. The same with the Jacket to the far left, it's big, not fitted
"Accordingly, there were conservative double-faced coats, A-line skirts with sweaters, dresses with sheer and solid panels, and jackets in metallic animal prints. When I asked Mr. Ghesquiere about some puffy, oversize tops (as in sweatshirts) with cartoonish graphics on the front, he replied, “They’re the corporate spies” (http://runway.blogs.nytimes.com/tag/nicolas-ghesquiere/#). The End of Looking like a Tourist
In class we made a easy transition from Men's fashion to women's fashion. Although we haven't talked a lot about the accessories. I stumbled over this amazing bracelet, which I may purchase in a few weeks! Although this is a very original bracelet it's also has a significance about it as well. The design team at Design Hope shrunken down the subway map from New York and gave it a shiny stainless steel makeover....Talk about an accessible way to get around New York, especially if you are interning in New York(from a student perspective) ***TURQUOISE WILSON

In class we discussed different trends, one that i have definitely noticed is the shorter fitted men's suit jackets. After the asymmetric 3 pockets were mentioned that is all i see, however none of them were willing to participate in a picture. but i did find that this trend has managed to trickle all the way down to afordable women wear. In Dressbarn where i work we are now selling a slimmer shorter cut jacket with a (faux) 3 pocket front. Who would have guessed its been flying off the rack purchased from women 20-80 (and their husbands love it as well).

Pull-on Boot, Wing Tip Shoe
$450.00
$490.00
This week we discussed and looked at high end men's shoes. What is back and more trendier then ever is the pull-on boot with elastic material siding and especially the wing tip shoe. While walking back from class one day on 17th and Sansom streets, Philadelphia, I came across the Head Start boutique and saw plenty of shoes we viewed in class. These specific two shoes shown above, came to my attention immediately when I noticed the two tone wing tip heel for women and the more casual pull-on boot for the men. This boutique has amazing leather items made form Italy to ensure its fine quality.(Lauren Gurka)

The Wing Tip
Trends and Concepts Week One
This week we discussed the "Wing Tip". The shoes we looked at were only men's shoes, but designers have taken this masculine design and transformed into a feminine line of women's shoes too. They have done this by designing flats, along with heels. They have created two toned colors which not only creates a unique shoe, but also makes them versatile enough to go with any outfit and dressy enough that you can wear them from day to night. This trend is something that has become very popular this season.
"Get the best of both worlds with these wingtip skimmers - a feminine flat finished with masculine wingtip detailing. They’re a perfect foil for your uber-girly summer sundresses."

Wing Tip Sneaker.
Week One in Trends and Concepts, it was all about men's fashion. These SNEAKERS are inspired by the wing tip shoe that we talked about in class. "Sneakers are taking from dress shoes and vice versa. And so when you love dress shoes, but fancy a sneaker for casual wear, it's nice when you are able to find the blending between the two that presents itself in a smart sneaker" (The Shoe Snob). aitrendchasers at AIPH TREND CHASER :THE FITTED BLAZER
Week One in Trends in Concepts Seminar was simply dedicated
to the men. One trend that we
touched on was the fitted blazer, which is in this season. The fitted blazer is
a blazer for men that is much shorter from previous men blazers and also gives
off much of a silhouette to men. The center of the blazer is cinched, allowing
a clean line to a man’s look. Above is a photo of Songzio’s Fall Winter 2012, where you can see the
fitted blazer in effect. You can see how the fitted blazer allows structure and
precision to the model. This look is a very clean look, and with “Prom Season”
approaching will be the “TO GO LOOK”, to emulate.(***TURQUOISE WILSON***)
