Spring 2012 Trends

Trending for the upcoming Spring is the use of bright and bold colors.  As we have learned and seen in class this past week, Spanish designers have absolutely no fear of color.
Above is a design by Custo Barcelona.  It is apparent that bright pink is the trend in this look being used all the way from the lipstick to the garments to the clutch. (Erica Farahmand)

Viccarbe: Penta

Viccarbe collection shows the value and references for a contemporary style of living, with a wide range of products for comfortable living. It is distinguished by great simplicity, innovative elegance and global brand awareness. This collection is ideal for people who live in the present and think of the future.  These chairs are called Penta, and play with the geometrical trend that is very popular. In home design modular systems seem to be popular and the colors and shape of these chairs will accompany this idea beautifully.

Gradation

Ann Demeulemeester
This look is from her ss 2012 collection and is a perfect example of utilizing different trends to create a certain look. This dress has dimension because of it being asymmetrical and as for the color gradation is very popular and she uses black and white which fade nicely into each other. This sheer fabric she has add this light feeling, the garment feels romantic.

Pressedleathershoe

Briefly seen in class, we saw the Pressedleathershoe by Marloes ten Bhömer.

Ten Bhömer says, "By reinventing the process by which footwear is made, the resulting shoes serve as unique examples of new aesthetic and structural possibilities..."

I believe this new & innovative look will be quite popular in the next few years. The quirkiness of its shape and concepts of construction are quite intriguing.

gsus sindustries

I'm really loving the one bright color in each look above by gsus sindustries winter look book 2011.  The first look of the man with tailor jacket and a cobalt blue turtleneck looks super trendy along with the handkerchief tucked in the breast pocket because I don't really see that look lately.  The woman look reminds me of a "dirty dancing" "flashdance" look that i absolutely love!  The coral looking stockings totally make the outfit along with chunky socks and heels.

G-Star Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits are trendy and not everyone can pull them off.  But here G-Star shows that worker-like look for women and on her it looks great especially with boots.  I bet if you pair the outfit with a little bit of accessories such as bracelets or a single chain necklace it would look even better.

Michael Van der Ham

Michael van der Ham is actually one of my favorite new upcoming designers he's done a few shows which you can see on style.com.  In this fall 2011 collection you can see him referencing twenties, fifties, and sixties.  He uses jewel hued crushed velvet looks and lurex intarsia knits as seen on the sweater dress in the middle.  My favorite look is the jacquard fringe pants on the bottom it reminds me of the disco age.

Scotch and Soda New Jean Release Coming Soon (Tiffany Owens)

In December, the new Amsterdams Blauw collection will hit the stores.Dry till you die-At least, when it comes to your dry denim. One of Scotch and Soda's very enthusiastic co-workers has been wearing his pair of Amsterdams Blauw jeans for over six months; every single day, without washing it. They tell you about how to take care of your dry denim, and he sure did take those tips seriously the article says. This post definitely makes me want to go out and buy a good pair of jeans, i guess there are die hard jean fans out there afterall. (Tiffany Owens)
