Madrid Fashion on the Streets
Check out this site to look at a slideshow of the different fashions seen on the streets of Madrid. Calle Serrano, one of Madrid's top selling retail store, says interseasonal looks are a strong trend. Mixing floral dresses with jeans, slouchy tops with scarves, pattern mixing, ethnic references, and distressed denim are the go tos. Boots of all sizes and heights and totes with fringe are just some of the accessories seen throughout the slideshow.

Raf Simons for Jil Sanders
For his collection for Jil Sanders, Raf Simons tried his hand at this years "minimalism" trend. He uses color to add to the impact of his designs. The bold colors make the designs look exciting and fresh. He said he looked to Givenchy's sixties era couture for inspiration, by playing around with proportion and shape of different fabrics not normally used for couture. His culbous skirts, elephant pants, and infanta gowns with the genius placement of T-shirts and parkas make this collection strong.

Krizia S/S 2011
Krizia is coming with a neutral collection for spring with splashes of color. The collection is very fresh, clean cuts with eye catching shapes and forms, with a hint of animalistic prints and interesting fabrics. I love all her beautiful little mini dresses!

Emilio Pucci S/S 2011
I know this is not cutting edge but I had to share this with those who did not already peep it for this coming spring. The back cuts for some of the dresses are amazing, as well as the cuts over all for the entire collection. The collection is so playful but still very sexy and feminine.

Enjoy!

"Ausgebrannt"
Belgian furniture designer, Kaspar Hamacher, has created a piece of furniture using an inventive technique. The result is a piece of functional art that is new to its field. Kaspar created his "Ausgebrannt" (meaning fire in German) line with intentions of creating furniture that was formed from tree trunks by use of fire. The look is rustic and the contrast between dark and light with the use of natural material is right on trend.

Hammer Time.
There has been a reoccurring trend in the old school genie pants, where the top is baggie and then the leg slightly tighten towards the ankle. This look is similar to the same look MC Hammer made famous in the 80's. This trend has been seen from the runway to Urban Outfitters. This particular look is from the fashion brand St. John

Take a HIKE
I've been looking through all UK designers within the last two weeks to see the trends they've been following. One trend I saw throughout most collections was the season's Hiker trend. High-heeled walking boots, capes, animal motifs, and bug jewelry are some of the accessories that fit in with this trend. It's good to be one with nature.

WoMAN
Anne Valerie Hash
The Anne Valerie Hash Spring 2011 collection was filled with the exact trends we have been discussing in class throughout the weeks. The French designer showed a collection filled with cropped and rolled up pant hems, tapered legs, dropped crotches, and high rises to the waist. The collars on shirts and jackets alike were miniaturized and flat, while trench-coats hit the trend driven mid-thigh length. Finally, the color scheme embodied a sea of washed out neutrals. Style.com reviews that this show "Just might've been the designer's best show yet", in terms of ease and wearability.

Help with UK designers
I asked the guys "Pants in Boots, yay or nay"
For almost a week I put my Facebook status as "Guy Friends- What do you think about the trend of pants in boots? Would you do it or not?" I was curious to see if the males in my life knew anything about this trend and whether or not they soon would themselves. The answers ranged from positive to negative. Many of them replied that they had never heard or seen of this trend. Others said they had seen it in cities such as Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and New York. For most of them they said they wouldn't be following the lead. But one did reply he does and will continue doing it. I guess most haven't seen enough of this trend to want to do the same. I do see many guys walking down the streets here in Philadelphia with pants tucked in so maybe it just hasn't trickled down the fashion ladder enough. Alli Crampton
