The Japanese fashion house, Issey Miyake has picked a new president to be in charge of the company. Masakatsu Nagatani, is a long time employee of the fashion house and is replacing Nobuyuki Ota. The change is to take place on July 1. The plan is to bring in the next generation of employees to the company.

Fever Footwear
This is a preview of a lower end line of shoes called Fever. These shoes follow many of the trends we discuss in class and can even be viewed as rip off of some higher end brands we studied. In keeping with trend the shoes are highly embellished, metallic, peep-toe's, booties, have zippers, spikes, lace and buckles. The first shoe in particular could be viewed as new because the pump is very unique. It is open with the metallic fabric on the inside and the white sole reminds me a little of a sneaker. With this shoe being considered "new" we can see how it plays off of higher end designers who also do these type of things. Click on the link above to see the slide show.

Ferrari as a Lifestyle
A Ferrari lifestyle store has opened up in New York on 55th and Park Ave. It is a 4,700 sq ft showroom/lifestyle store. Here you can purchase a $320,000 V12 Ferrari or a notebook for $10.00. It was once just a showroom but now contains only three Ferrari's. Most of the space is dedicated to Ferrari's Cavallino collection which is made up of accessories and sportswear. Not only can you buy clothing but you can find chess sets, surf boards, desk's, silk ties and even diamond necklaces. Click on the link to find out more about the store and to see some pictures of the new place!

A Fan of the Blog
I have never blogged before this class/assignment. I truly enjoyed searching for cutting-edge trends and current events in the fashion industry. I also enjoyed reading what my fellow class mates have found. For me, it is hard to stay on top of whats new in fashion around the world, while taking a full load of classes, work, personal life etc. - this assignment forced me to stay current (but was not consuming all of my time, which was great!) I loved the YouTube fashion videos on the top of the blog page - was sad to see them gone.
